The Official “Unofficial” Luigi Mangione Timeline
The following timeline is a list of both “official” and “unofficial” events that may be relevant to the arrest and trial of Luigi Mangione, accused of shooting and killing UnitedHealthCare CEO, Brian Thompson. The “official” timeline consists of things reported by a“officials” in the case such as main stream media, local or federal law enforcement, lawyers or anyone acting in an “official” capacity. The “unofficial” timeline contains rumors and potentially related information that has not “officially” been accepted as relevant but may cast doubt upon the “official” story. Unofficial does not necessarily mean unverifiable. It merely means it is not officially part of the narrative. Unofficial entries are listed in yellow font.
Summary of Our Position: While we do not rule out the possibility that Luigi Mangione is responsible and the “lone gunman”, our lead analyst sees reasons to suspect there are multiple conspirators and that Luigi was likely just one of a group of individuals that planned to pull it off. In this theory, Luigi Mangione may have purposefully played a diversion to allow the actual shooter to get away. Among some of the reasons for this theory is that the shooter knew exactly where to go to get off camera for a considerable amount of time in Central Park and that the suspect later seen leaving the park was dressed similarly but not identically. Is it possible this is a look alike? Several key pieces of evidence feel deliberately placed to mislead law enforcement. In addition it makes little sense as to why the shooter would take steps to hide their identity, go on the run for five days, and then simply get caught at a McDonalds with the same clothes, backpack, weapon, and a letter confessing to the whole thing while declaring he acted alone. One additional theory that we are exploring is the money trail. Brian Thompson, as well as other UnitedHealth execs, were under investigation by the Department of Justice and scheduled to appear to testify. There is a huge amount of money at stake leading to the possibility that this was a profession hit. Even if Luigi turns out to be the actual shooter and lone gunman, there is the bigger social question to ask. Was the shooters actions “justified” in any way? Was this the case of the little guy fighting against corporate greed? Is UnitedHealth guilty of far more “murders” by denying claims that this one act against a CEO?

Dane Elkins, age 21 at the time, calls 911 from a roadside in California (near Bakersfield) in apparent distress. When authorities arrive, his car is found on the side of the road with a flat tire. Dane is missing but his phone and wallet are still in the vehicle.
His car, a 2017 gray Honda Civic, was found abandoned near Interstate 5 and Templin Highway in Castaic, California.
He was reportedly driving along the California coast in the days leading up to his disappearance.
Dane had been traveling between cities such as Santa Cruz, Salinas, and possibly passing through areas like San Francisco before heading south toward Castaic.
To this day Dane remains missing and the circumstances around his disappearance are unanswered. Before his disappearance, Dane informed his family that he believed he was being recruited by the CIA and that he was not going to accept. He claimed that he feared for his own life and that of his family. Four years later, “credible” sources indicate that Dane has been seen by close friends but his whereabouts are still unknown.
WHY DOES IT MATTER: Online, rumors begin to circulate that Dan Elkins could be the shooter of Brian Thompson, CEO of UnitedHealthCare though there has been no credible reason to believe this theory that I have seen to date. Having said that, the physical similarities between Dane and Luigi are numerous including the approximate age (both 25-26 at the time), their height 5’10 to 5’11, their build (both physically fit), as well as similar facial structure and eyebrows. To date there is no “credible” evidence linking Dane Elkins to being in New York (or anywhere for that matter) but rumors continue to circulate in social media circles.
It is simply odd that Luigi Mangioni was working for a California company with an office in San Francisco around the time that Dane Elkins went missing and may have passed through San Francisco. This of course means nothing in and of itself other than to say it’s a strange coincidence that people believe Dane is involved and the two theoretically were in the same general area at the same time.

Call options provide the right, but not the obligation, to buy a stock at a predetermined price before a specified expiration date.

NOTE: Why is this important? It is a possible motive for the killing of UnitedHealthCare CEO, Brian Thompson. Some have suggested that Brian Thompson was killed by the powerful healthcare industry who lost nearly a billion dollars in revenue over the attack suggesting that because it happened under his leadership, someone had to pay. Others have suggested that this event set of a complex chain reaction of things that led to the eventual assassination of Brian Thompson.

In May 2024, the City of Hollywood Firefighters’ Pension Fund filed a class-action lawsuit against UnitedHealth Group executives, including CEO Brian Thompson, alleging insider trading. Also named in the lawsuit was UnitedHealth Group CEO, Andrew Witty and Executive Chairman Stephen Hemsley. The lawsuit claims that these executives sold substantial amounts of their personally held UnitedHealth shares while concealing a Department of Justice (DOJ) antitrust investigation into the company. Specifically, it alleges that Thompson sold over $15 million worth of his shares on February 16, 2024, just before the DOJ’s probe became public, leading to a significant drop in the company’s stock price. ~11:00 PM: The suspect took a cab to the area of the New York Hilton Midtown and spent about half an hour walking in the area of the hotel until around 11 p.m according to CBSNews. The suspect then took another cab and checked into a hostel on New York City’s Upper West Side that day and later checked out, sources said. (Source: ABCNews, Complaint Southern District of New York: United States Luigi Nicholas Mangione)
The suspect then checked into the Hi New York City Hostel on Amsterdam Avenue on the Upper West Side. He used fake identification and lowered his mask to speak to the clerk, police say, the only time he lowered his mask in the hostel. After this, he avoided conversation and hid his face. The FBI on Friday described the man pictured as the “unknown suspect” wanted for the killing of Thompson. (Source: CBSNews)
The suspect takes a taxi to the HI New York City Hostel at 891 Amsterdam Ave., where he stays until the morning of the shooting. It was listed in the TMZ special as being the “American Youth Hostels”. He presents an ID that police believe to be fake. Two roommates in a shared room that had bunkbeds and claimed they never saw his face, police said, because he kept his mask on. (Source: APNews, TMZ Documentary, Luigi Mangione: The Mind of a Killer)
NOTE: THIS IS HUGE. I have a theory that the suspect had at least one accomplice. Many say two or more. This report from APNews and CBSNews confirms that the suspect had two roomates with him for days. WHO WERE THEY???? I don’t buy that the suspect hid his face from the roommates for days.. Did the suspect have accomplices???
NOTE: The original 911 call that came in about the shooter said he had a light brown or cream colored jacket and black gloves. This description of a light brown or cream jacket was repeated by the NYPD later the same day in a press conference even though the video suggests the jacket is dark gray. In the two images below it appears that one image has been color corrected or shifted to make the jacket appear light brown or cream in one photo and black in the other which conveniently “fixes” the conflicting information. Is this merely a trick of the lighting or a deliberate color correction to line up with the stated eyewitness testimony?
November 29, 2024
The suspect was checked out of the hostel, but police say they believe it was an administrative checkout because the suspect did not appear at the required time. The suspect then checked back in. Police said he didn’t leave the hostel in the days before the shooting and he did not speak to anyone. He had two roommates. (Source: CBSNews)
The man was checked out of the hostel, where guests are automatically checked out if they don’t show at the desk by a certain time. Police don’t believe he stayed someplace else and checked back into the same hostel the next day. (Source: APNews)
November 30, 2024
The suspect likely checked back into the HI New York City Hostel on the Upper West Side on Nov. 30, sources said. (Source: ABCNews)
NOTE: The explanation for why the suspect checked out and back in seems to be explained by the statement that the checkout system is automatic if you don’t show up. It appears the suspect planned to stay longer but missed a check in period and thus was auto checked out. One might ask, where was the suspect when they missed checking in to remain checked in?
The following photos were attributed by ABC on their website (Source: ABCNews)
Note: The backpack in the set of photos above have black straps and in the other set of photos below have gray straps. Also the jackets are not the same. Note the differences in pockets and zippers. Did the suspect change jackets or have more than one jacket?
Many “unofficial” experts have done analysis on the photos below compared to Luigi Mangione, now the official suspect and have concluded that this man is not the same man as Luigi.
“Officially”, however, this is Luigi Mangioni

~5:41 AM: the suspect arrived at the New York Hilton Midtown and began walking around the area. Police say it’s possible he biked down because it took around 10 minutes. While walking around he purchased items from a nearby coffee shop and “returned to a bench”. (Source: Complaint Southern District of New York: United States Luigi Nicholas Mangione).
NOTE: It has been widely debated whether or not the suspect could have made the trip from the Hostel as the official complain says to the Hilton in Midtown in six minutes. Sources such as Brian O’Shea’s substack page document the distances on maps as well as publicly available information about the speed of many ebikes and suggests the trip is nearly impossible to make in the time suggested. Others who claim to live in New York have stated it can be done and have attempted to prove it. I have been reluctant to weigh in on whether or not it CAN be done but I recommend you look at Brian O’Shea’s analysis for the argument that it likely can’t be done as stated in the complaint (SOURCE: Brian O’Shea’s substack)
NOTE: It is presumed, though not mentioned here, that the items purchased were a Kind bar and a bottle of water.
6:15 AM: Approximately 30 minutes before the shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on December 4, 2024, surveillance footage captured an individual matching the suspect’s description purchasing a bottle of water and a KIND bar at a Starbucks at 1290 Sixth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan.

NOTE: The official sources say the call seen here is 6:29 AM however the time stamp on the photo clearly lists 7:29 AM. I am going to give the time stamp benefit of the doubt and say it’s a matter of daylight savings time discrepancy but it’s interesting to note the time difference and should be investigated.
NOTE: In addition, Brian O’Shea lists on his substack page why he believes the cell phone image is actually taken in a different location than officially reported and documents how he knows that to be true. See his page: https://brianoshea.substack.com/p/examination-of-the-unsealed-federal

NOTE: The Federal complaint against Mangione states that the suspect had been waiting for Brian Thompson for about an hour before following him across the street. What is interesting to us is that the suspect apparently wasn’t worried about missing his opportunity when going to buy items at a nearby coffee shop thus suggesting the suspect wasn’t concerned about missing him. Also the phone cell call is interesting. Who is the suspect talking to? Was he made aware that he had time to kill. The suspect fled the scene shortly after the shooting, heading “northbound into an alleyway between 54th Street and 55th Street,” and walked west on Avenue of the Americas, and eventually got onto an electric bike and rode toward Central Park. Kenny said the bike had a GPS system and police are working on gathering more details from the company. (Source: Newsweek)
6:48 AM: “The original 911 call that came in at about 6:48am about this murder described the shooter as wearing a “cream colored coat” and “black leather gloves” which seems to be a different description than the person pictured in the official NYPD postings and public service announcements.” (SOURCE: https://brianoshea.substack.com/p/examination-of-the-unsealed-federal)
NOTE: Eyewitness testimony is horrendous and it is possible that the caller simply remembers it differently than they actually saw it. These kind of mistakes are common in eyewitness testimony. However, it’s worth noting that the description if MUCH different.
6:48 AM: Officers arrive at the scene and find Thompson on the sidewalk in front of the hotel with gunshot wounds to his back and leg. He was taken to the hospital by EMS.

6:56 AM: The alleged shooter then possibly comes out of central park at 77th on the bike and exited Central Park at 77th Street and Central Park West. After disappearing inside the park for a period of time, the Shooter was captured on video again exiting the park near West 77th Street and Central Park West riding north on Central Park West. When he emerged from the park, the Shooter was no longer carrying the Gray Backpack. (Source: ABCNews and APNews, Complaint Southern District of New York: United States Luigi Nicholas Mangione)
NOTE: In the picture above, while the gray backpack is missing, it does appear as if there is a possible lump on the suspects back suggesting a different backpack, perhaps worn under the jacket this time.
6:58 AM: He passes another camera on 85th Street and Columbus Avenue, still on the bicycle. Security camera footage captured the Shooter riding the electric bicycle near West 85th Street and Columbus Avenue. Two minutes later, at 7 approximately 7:00 a.m., the Shooter was captured on video walking near West 86th Street and Columbus Avenue, without the electric bicycle. 7:00 AM Suspect is seen at 86th Street and Columbus Avenue, the suspect has ditched the bike and took a taxi to the Port Authority bus facility at 178th Street, by the George Washington Bridge. He is seen on 86th with no bike and no backpack. (Source: CBSNews and APNews)
(NOTE: the cameras lose sight of the shooter in Central Park and only later do we see what appears to be the same man exiting on the bike when it is caught on camera again. The question is, is the man exiting the park the same man as the one who entered the park?)
7:04 AM: the suspect gets in a cab northbound from 86th and Amsterdam to a Port Authority bus station near the George Washington Bridge. In the cab, the suspect turns towards a camera which gets a crystal clear shot of him peering through a partition that separates the driver from the passenger. We can clearly see his distinctive eyes and his distinctive eyebrows. The suspect didn’t do anything to camouflage his appearance (Source: ABC 20/20 Special, Manhunt: Luigi Mangione and the CEO Murder)

The theory was that the suspect boarded a Greyhound bus and that was the last contact they had with him that day. (Source: Tubitv)
Note: Most agree that this bears a striking resemblance to Luigi Mangioni but not the man in the first images released. Are they the same man? Some, such as myself, speculate that this “suspect” may not be the same “suspect” that committed the shooting. One theory is that Suspect 1 (the shooter) changed places with Suspect 2 (decoy) who led the authorities on a wild goose chase so suspect 1 could make a clean get away.
Time Unknown: At first, investigators believed Mangione then boarded a bus at that Port Authority terminal, where investigators said he was spotted on security cameras being dropped off by the taxi. But there was no imagery of Mangione actually getting onto a bus, sources said. (Source: ABCNews)
Note: This is a VERY interesting development. How do investigators claim that the suspect was spotted on security cameras and yet we have NO IMAGERY of it?
Time Unknown: Police sources told ABC News there’s video evidence that shows Mangione left the George Washington Bridge bus station, went south to Penn Station and left New York City by train to Philadelphia.
Note: Has ANY video of this location been released to the public? If so, where? If not, why?

Police continue to search Central Park; scuba divers are seen scouring a pond. The NYPD releases additional photos showing the suspected shooter next to and in the back seat of a taxi. In both images he is seen wearing a blue, medical-style face mask.
Despite recovering a fingerprint from the Starbucks purchase and sending items for DNA testing, police have yet to publicly identify the suspect.
Joe Marino, Senior Reporter for the New York Post indicates that a person was discovered three days after the shooting who was “almost a dead ringer” for the suspect seen in the photo surveillance cameras. However, it turned out he had an air-tight alibi and there was no way he could have been in New York at the time of the incident and law enforcement had to reverse course. (Source: Tubitv)

Sometime in the early morning of December 9, John Kuklis, a hotel clerk at the Horseshoe Curve Lodge in Altoona, Pennsylvania, reports having seen a man now believed to be Luigi Mangione asking for a room just hours before what would become his arrest. At the time no rooms were available and the suspect (who was wearing a mask) asked if he could wait in the lobby until the room comes available. The hotel clerk told him no and the suspect left. Allegedly he decided to kill some time at McDonalds where he would later be arrested. Law enforcement claim to have gone back to the hotel and checked video footage of this interaction at the hotel and confirm that the suspect was Luigi Mangione attempting to get a room hours before his arrest. ~9:00 AM: A person walks into a local McDonalds in Altoona, Pennsyvania wearing a light tan knitted cap, dark jacket and carrying a backpack. He pulls his mask off his face and dangles it off his right ear literally “giving everyone a view of his face. (Source: Tubitv)
An older gentlemen notices the man and says to another older gentleman, “You know, I think that’s the guy their looking for in New York City”. A customer then tells a McDonald’s worker and the worker calls the cops.
9:14 AM: A worker at a fast food restaurant in Altoona, Pennsylvania called the police about a male customer later identified as LUIGI NICHOLAS MANGIONE, the defendant, who the worker believed resembled photos of the Shooter that had been broadcast in the media following the Victim’s murder. Police in Altoona, Pennsylvania, are dispatched to investigate. (Source: APNews, Complaint Southern District of New York: United States Luigi Nicholas Mangione).
Two Altoona police approach the suspect and ask him to remove his mask and show ID. The suspect provides a New Jersey Driver’s License with the name Mark Rosaria, birthdate 07-21-1998. This, according to sources, is the same fake ID used at the hostel in New York. (Source: Tubitv)
According to the “Police Criminal Complained” by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (Incident number 2024-29133), the suspect had a silver laptop sitting on the table in front of him and a backpack.
According to the same complaint, the suspect was arrested and transported to the Altoona Police Department. It was there that, per policy, the “inventoried” his backpack and discovered the following items: A black 3D-printed pistol and black silencer and one loose 9mm hollow point round. The gun was described as having a metal slide and plastic handle with a metal threaded barrel. The gun had one magazine loaded with six 9mm full metal jacket rounds.
NOTE: There is NO mention in the complain or inventory of a notebook or a manifesto or of $8000 in US currency and $2000 in foreign currency as will later be revealed. This is MAJOR problem for me. How did these items NOT get listed in the complaint when listing the contents of the backpack or the items with him such as the laptop?
Later, on the 18th, the Federal government now adds additional items that were found on Luigi Mangione in Altoona Pennsyvlania and they now include: “clothing that matched apparel that the Shooter wore in the security camera videos”, a notebook, several thousand dollars in cash, an envelope associated with an FDIC-insured bank, and a letter addressed “To the Feds” (the “Feds Letter”). (Source: Complaint Southern District of New York: United States Luigi Nicholas Mangione).
NOTE: This HIGHLY suggests that the Federal government ADDED/PLANTED evidence among Luigi Mangione’s possessions while he was in custody of Altoona Police Department. The fact that the original listing of possessions said NOTHING about a notebook, envelop, or letter is HIGHLY suspicious. It is as if they wanted to ensure that Luigi was “found” with evidence that more directly ties him to the shooting in New York.
The Notebook they later claimed he had contained several handwritten pages that express hostility towards the health insurance industry and wealthy executives in particular. For example, the Notebook contained the following statements in entries that appear to correspond to particular dates:
In an entry marked as “8/15” [August 15, 2024], the Notebook described how “the details are finally coming together” and “I’m glad – in a way – that I’ve procrastinated, bc [because] it allowed me to learn more about [acronym for Company-1].” The Notebook entry also stated that “the target is insurance” because “it checks every box.”
In an entry marked as “10/22” [October 22, 2024], the Notebook stated: “1.5 months. This investor conference is a true windfall . . . and – most importantly – the message becomes self evident.” Later on in the entry, the Notebook describes an intent to “wack” the CEO of one of the insurance companies at its investor conference. As described above, October 22, 2024 was approximately 6 weeks before the date of the murder of the Victim, which occurred on the date of Company-1’s investor conference
The Feds Letter recovered from MANGIONE stated: “I wasn’t working with anyone. This was fairly trivial: Some elementary social engineering, basic CAD, a lot of patience.” Based on my own research, I believe that “CAD” refers to “computer-aided design.” The Feds Letter also stated: “P.S. you can check serial numbers to verify this is all self-funded. My own ATM withdrawals.”
When law enforcement asks if the suspect has been in New York lately the suspect allegedly “freaks out” and begins visibly shaking. They ask him to tell him his REAL name and he reports that it is Luigi Mangione. (Source: Tubitv)
Police in Altoona, Pennsylvania, went to a McDonald’s restaurant in response to reports of a male matching the description of the suspect, according to a police spokesman.
Mangione had a gun believed to be the one used in last Wednesday’s shooting, as well as writings suggesting “ill will toward corporate America,” Kenny said on Monday. He also had clothing and a mask similar to those worn by the shooter and a fraudulent New Jersey ID matching the one used to check into the Manhattan hostel, Kenny said. (Source: APNews).
The gun is described as a “plastic 3D printed gun” along with six 9mm bullets. He has a hollow point bullet described as what you use for “maximum carnage”.
The person, identified as Luigi Mangione, was arrested on firearms charges, New York Commissioner Tisch said. Police said he had a fake New Jersey ID card that matched the one used to check in at the New York City hostel. (Source: CBSNews)

NOTE: Some have pointed out that this may be a clue pointing to the 1890 Sherman Antitrust Act which was passed to prohibit monopolies and to maintain competitive markets in the United States. Considering that a backpack full of Monopoly money was allegedly found in Central Park, it appears a VERY likely conclusion! They are leaving us clues!
It’s worth noting that “Mark Rosario” is also the name of a student affiliated with Princeton University’s Julis-Rabinowitz Center for Public Policy & Finance. However, there is no publicly available information linking this individual to Luigi Mangione or the events in question. Newsweek magazine reports that Luigi’s full manifesto has been been published online by independent journalist Ken Klippenstein visa his Substack blog and that it has “confirmed to be a legitimate transcription” by law enforcement authorities. (Source: Newsweek)
A transcription of the manifesto is available here (https://www.kenklippenstein.com/p/luigis-manifesto).
Ken Klippenstien insists this is the real manifesto and not the fake one circulating online. He also states that media outlines including the New York Times, The Washington Post, CNN and NBC have this as well and refuse to publish it even though the quote from it selectively. He has reached out to them to explain why but they refuse to answer. (https://www.kenklippenstein.com/p/luigis-manifesto).
The “manifesto” is claimed to be written by hand and states, among other things, that Luigi Mangione acted alone. (Source: Newsweek). Specifically a line reads: “To the Feds, I’ll keep this short, because I do respect what you do for our country. To save you a lengthy investigation, I state plainly that I wasn’t working with anyone.
Another line of note alleged to be written by Luigi Mangione is “Frankly, these parasites simply had it coming. A reminder: the US has the #1 most expensive healthcare system in the world, yet we rank roughly #42 in life expectancy.” (Source: Newsweek)
Newsweek confirmed that this “manifesto” was on Luigi at the time of his arrest in Altoona, Pennsylvania.

Luigi Mangione receives unprecedented “perp walk” and is met by Mayor Eric Adams in widely televised spectacle. He was flown into New York by helicopter and met by a massive police presence, media and a crowd of supporters. 1:00 PM: The Agnifilos (Karen and Marc) had expected to appear with their client, Luigi Mangione a block away, in STATE court, for a 2 p.m. arraignment on a grand jury indictment for murder and terrorism. But at 1 p.m., Mangione was arrested by the Federal government and immediately hauled into federal court, where a grand jury had yet to hear the case. He was brought into courtroom 26a to appear before Magistrate Judge Katharine H. Parker on a criminal complaint sworn to by an FBI agent.
The clerk then announced the case that the feds had stepped in to grab first.
“24 MAG 4357. U.S. versus MANGIONE.”
Among other things, the FBI agent bring the arrest warrant to court alleged that along with a handgun and a silencer, Mangione had been carrying at the time of his arrest a handwritten letter addressed, “To the Feds.” The feds had now responded with the complaint, a copy of which appeared to be on the defense table. (Source: The Daily Beast ).
The most serious of the listed charges is a violation of United States Code Section 1111(a), murder with the use of a firearm. The major difference from the top state charge is the penalty. New York State does not allow capital punishment. “Death penalty eligible,” is how Friedman Agnifilo described the top federal charge. (Source: The Daily Beast ).

On December 23, 2024, during a court appearance, attorney Karen Friedman Agnifilo criticized the highly publicized “perp walk” of her client, Luigi Mangione. She described it as “the biggest staged perp walk I’ve ever seen in my career” and deemed it “absolutely unnecessary.” Friedman Agnifilo specifically criticized New York City Mayor Eric Adams for participating in the event, suggesting that his involvement was politically motivated and could prejudice Mangione’s right to a fair trial. She remarked, “The mayor should know more than anyone about the presumption of innocence.” (Source: Yahoo)
The “perp walk” in question occurred on December 19, 2024, when Mangione was extradited from Pennsylvania to New York. He was escorted by a large contingent of law enforcement officers, including Mayor Adams, in a highly publicized event. Friedman Agnifilo argued that such displays are unconstitutional when unrelated to legitimate law enforcement objectives and serve only to create a spectacle that undermines the presumption of innocence.
Luigi Mangione plead not guilty to 11 charges brought by the state of New York including first-degree murder, two variations of second-degree murder, and weapons charges.

Luigi is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in the Pennsylvania state court, at 8:00 AM.
We believe it was at this hearing that Luigi’s attorney, Thomas Dickey filed an “Omnibus Pretrial Motion for Relief” in relation to the arrest of Luigi Mangione in Altoona, PA. In the motion, Dickey explains how the arresting officers illegally detained Luigi Mangione by forming a human wall preventing his exit from the corner where he was having breakfast and questioned him for at least 18 minutes during which they asked him to put his hands on his head and took his possessions from him and performed a pat down search. All of this was done without telling Luigi why he was being detained and without reading him his Miranda rights. Thomas Dickey moves therefore that the detention and confiscation of Luigi’s property and search of his belongings were illegal and without a warrant. At no time was Luigi made aware that he could leave or could deny the officer’s requests. A copy of the motion can be found here. (Source: The National News Desk)
